How to shift your gaze to almost nothing
Facing size and emptiness of the univerese everybody may feel as little and marginal as an ant. In a starry night one gaze into the sky will suffice. Because the universe is biiiiiiig!
And yet it largely consists of nothing. Nothinging! Quite a frustrating thought?
Here is another perspective:
If you look around yourself, you predominantly see matter. A little promise!
But science says that everything around us consists of smallest particles. For example a hydrogen atom: 1 electron orbits 1 proton.
To get across the dimensions: Imagine a tiny island in the middle of the atlantic, void center, just 20 m big, not recorded in Google Maps. If this was the proton… then the electron would be no larger than a football moving past the island – somewhere and sometime. But in a diameter at least the route New York – London with insane speed!
